Tiyesere joined the University of Malawi in 2005 as a staff associate. Alongside the teaching responsibilities, Tiyesere has served as the Deputy Head of Department from 2009 to 2011 and as Head of Department from 2011 to 2013.Tiyesere has also been a coordinator of a mature entry Bachelor’s degree programme in Human Resource Management from 2009 to 2013.
Before joining the university, she worked as a Human Resource Management Officer and later as an Administrative Officer in the Malawi’s Civil Service. Tiyesere possesses a Masters degree in Human Resource Management obtained from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom in 2007. She has conducted various researches in politics and management including a government commissioned study in Human Resource Planning. She is also a co-contributor to the annual Africa Year Book.
With reference to seminars and training programmes, she has facilitated training in reporting mechanisms in the civil service, training needs assessment for private sector staff among others. Tiyesere is currently on study leave pursuing a Phd in Business and Management with specific focus on how professional women’s careers are shaped specifically looking at organizational policies and the management of the interface between work and family responsibilities.
Chancellor College is the largest among the constituent colleges of the University of Malawi. Ever since its establishment, the college has produced graduates who have gone on to become leaders in various sectors of Malawian society.
